Activity created by Alyssa Garcia:

The companion reading for this activity is A Ball For Daisy by Chris Raschka. Raschka won the 2012 Caldecott Medal for his very own illustrations in this picture book. In this wordless book, Raschka tells a story of a white dog named Daisy and her favorite red rubber ball. Daisy is absolutely obsessed with her red ball and will not go anywhere without it. She even sleeps with her ball every single night. One day Daisy’s owner takes her out for a walk and her ball get snatched away by another dog wanting to play. Anxiously trying to get her ball back, it accidentally pops. Back at home Daisy is very upset about her loss. Later Daisy goes out for another walk with her owner and she sees the same dog that popped her favorite red ball, but this time the dog has a brand new blue ball. The other dog gives Daisy the blue ball and she immediately becomes happy and they begin to play together.
